Ingredients
Method
- Heat a large 12-inch skillet over medium heat. Add the Italian sausage and cook, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, until browned and cooked through, 5 to 7 minutes.
- Stir in the onion, bell pepper, and garlic, and sauté until the vegetables soften, 3 to 4 minutes.
- Pour in the sweet chili sauce, honey, and chicken broth. Stir everything together well and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
- Add the uncooked pasta and stir to make sure it is submerged in the liquid. Turn the heat up and bring the mixture to a boil.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and simmer for 12 to 15 minutes or until the pasta is al dente and most of the liquid is absorbed, stirring occasionally.
- Taste the dish and add the crushed red pepper flakes plus any extra salt or seasoning you like, then stir thoroughly.
- Remove the skillet from the heat and let it rest for a couple of minutes. Garnish with fresh herbs or shredded cheese before serving.

Notes
Use a large skillet so the pasta has room to spread out and cook evenly.
For extra kick, add the red pepper flakes in with the onions.
If the sauce gets too tight before the pasta is done, splash in more broth or water a few tablespoons at a time.
Leftovers keep refrigerated for up to 4 days; reheat with a little broth to restore moisture.
You can swap the sweet chili sauce for half BBQ sauce and half sweet chili sauce for a different flavor.
Top with fresh basil or parsley and a handful of shredded mozzarella or Parmesan before serving.
